Maron Marvel Dallas attorneys Carlos Ramirez and Tanica Mann recently secured a significant trial victory in Odessa, Texas on behalf of client Flores Trucking, insured through MDX Insurance.

The case involved a trucking accident in which the plaintiff alleged that Flores’ driver crossed into her lane and caused serious injuries. In addition to approximately $55,000 in past medical expenses, the plaintiff presented a “Life Care Plan” expert projecting extensive future treatment, including surgery, and ultimately asked the jury to award $1.5 million in damages. The trial proceeded in Ector County, TX, a particularly dangerous jurisdiction where verdicts exceeding $100 million against trucking companies have been returned.

Carlos and Tanica vigorously challenged the plaintiff’s claims, particularly the Life Care Plan, effectively cross-examining the expert both in deposition and before the jury. After four days of testimony of multiple experts for both sides, the jury returned a verdict of $75,000 in damages and finding her 30% responsible for the accident, for a total award of $52,500.
