Kelly L. Near

Kelly Near defends clients in South Carolina one of the country’s most dangerous jurisdictions in which to have litigation. She handles a wide variety of civil litigation matters involving toxic tort, premises liability, construction law, construction defect, and personal injury.

Kelly believes that practicing law is more than just handling a case. Her clients and their litigation are very important to her, and she takes a personal interest in their businesses as if they were her own. Her clients consider her a trusted advisor, aggressive, pragmatic, responsive, and cost-effective, always keeping them informed while being mindful of their goals.

She represents clients as local counsel in South Carolina in various toxic tort fields, including asbestos, talc, and premises liability. She works closely with national coordinating counsel team members managing asbestos and silica litigation for numerous companies and manufacturers throughout the United States.

Before joining Maron Marvel, she represented plaintiffs in general liability matters, giving her a perspective on the nuances of both sides of the aisle. Kelly serves as chair of the firm’s South Carolina DEI committee and volunteers for several charitable associations and organizations.

Devoted to her family, she enjoys spending time with her husband and two children when she is not working. She often can be found on the soccer field coaching her kids’ soccer team.
