Maron Marvel Bradley Anderson and Tardy LLC is pleased to announce that the following attorneys have been promoted to Director: Rebekah Clayton, Sarah Beth Jones, and Carson Thurman in the Jackson, Mississippi office. Shounak “Ruku” Sarkar in the Wilmington, Delaware Office.
•Rebekah Clayton is a member of the local trial team representing a large chemical defendant in various Mississippi jurisdictions and has assisted with preparation for numerous trials. She is extremely adept at analysis and problem solving, specifically with respect to litigation fraud. Rebekah co-manages the firm's jury selection group and possesses extensive experience in several Mississippi venues, which are some of the most high-risk and "plaintiff-friendly" jurisdictions in the country. She has also assisted various defendants throughout the country with jury selection to ensure transparency and impartiality in the jury selection process. Additionally, Rebekah is often called upon to manage and coordinate large-volume claims resolution and a wide range of special projects involving mass tort litigation.
•Sarah Beth Jones focuses her practice on coordination of special projects and implementation of creative defense strategies designed to reduce risk in the mass tort arena. Sarah Beth was instrumental in the coordination of medical joint defense efforts in federal asbestos MDL 875 and managed dockets on behalf of multiple clients. Sarah Beth possesses extensive knowledge regarding asbestos bankruptcy trusts and works with insurers and defendants involved in litigation nationwide to increase transparency. She works daily with clients and their local counsel on bankruptcy trust issues, including trust records collection, trust value estimates, and efforts to compel compliance with bankruptcy trust transparency legislation and court orders regarding disclosure of bankruptcy trust claims information. Sarah Beth also represents clients locally in mass tort litigation defense in Mississippi and Alabama and coordinates their dockets, including drafting and filing pleadings and substantive motions, conducting and coordinating fact and expert discovery, and negotiating case resolutions.
•Carson Thurman represents numerous firm clients in product liability, premises liability, personal injury, construction contract formation and project representation (all phases), construction defect litigation, and toxic tort matters. Carson also represents local/regional oil and gas companies in litigation and before administrative agencies, and is a member of the firm’s Trust Transparency Team. Prior to joining the firm, Carson worked for an energy and environmental litigation boutique firm specializing in oil and gas litigation, environmental defense, construction litigation, commercial litigation, employment law, administrative law, and tort defense. While in law school, he was a legal intern with the Mississippi Volunteer Lawyers Project and the Hinds County Public Defender’s office.
•Ruku Sarkar is a member of the firm’s Environmental Regulation and Litigation groups. He works closely with the team and client in the management and execution of national defense strategies. In this role, he oversees and coordinates all aspects of litigation, including written discovery, fact and expert depositions, settlement valuation, and trial preparation. Ruku provides regular reports to the client identifying litigation risks and defense strategies in cases across the country, and manages the client’s internal financial compliance. He also provides day-to-day litigation support for cases filed in state courts in Pennsylvania and New Jersey, including attending depositions, assisting preparations of company witnesses for deposition, and assisting in trial preparation.
Congratulations to each of these attorneys on this accomplishment.
