Associate Litigation Attorney

Maron Marvel has an immediate opening for an associate attorney to join its Chicago office. We are seeking an experienced (3-5 year) civil litigator for our General Liability Practice Group. Successful candidates will have exceptional research, writing, and litigation skills.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Motion drafting and research experience a must. Deposition experience is also a must.
  • Demonstrated ability and desire for litigation defense in a small team environment
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to grow a diverse personal practice
  • Demonstrated ability and desire to manage personal caseload from start to finish in a proactive manner

Associate Litigation Attorney – Toxic Tort

Maron Marvel has an immediate opening for an associate to join its Wilmington office to support its toxic tort defense team. The ideal candidate will have excellent academic credentials and a minimum of three years litigation experience. Clerkship experience preferred. Prior toxic tort experience not required.

Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Assist with the management of a national docket of toxic tort litigation for a global energy company
  • Work closely with team members and external counsel to monitor case activity, evaluate strategy, and assist in the defense of toxic tort cases in state and federal courts throughout the country
  • Perform legal research and draft memoranda and briefs, including summary judgment and Daubert/Frye motions
  • Work with team to identify and develop expert witnesses
  • Potential for attending depositions, handling court appearances, and assisting with trial

Qualifications:

  • Superior writing and analytical skills
  • Minimum three years litigation experience
  • Prior toxic tort and/or benzene litigation experienced preferred, but not required
  • Prior clerkship experience preferred
  • Thrives in fast paced environment
  • Proven ability to multi-task
  • Team player

Paralegal – Personal Injury

Maron Marvel has an immediate opening for a paralegal to join our personal injury litigation team in our Wilmington office. Successful candidates will have exceptional research, writing, and litigation skills.

Responsibilities:

Draft routine legal documents
Manage multiple cases from start to trial
Collect documents from various sources
Collect, organize, analyze and summarize medical records
Review and analyze documents.
Conduct various document searches and factual research

Skills:

Experience in all phases of the litigation process
Ability to effectively set priorities, meet deadlines, and manage multiple projects for several attorneys
Ability to search database programs and assist with organizing, summarizing and/or categorizing documents.
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Exceptionally well organized and detail oriented
Adaptable to changing priorities; flexible
Excellent interpersonal skills. Ability to interact with all levels of firm personnel, clients, other counsel and vendors.
Ability to troubleshoot issues and create solutions
Proficient in Microsoft programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)

Requirements:

Paralegal Certificate preferred with bachelor’s degree strongly preferred
Minimum 5 years’ experience as a litigation paralegal
