Emani S. Lawrence

Emani Lawrence is an attorney in Maron Marvel’s Chicago office. She brings extensive courtroom experience and a strategic, detail-oriented approach to litigation defense. Prior to joining the firm, she served as a Deputy Public Defender with the San Diego County Public Defender’s Office, where she handled a high-volume, complex caseload.

Emani has significant experience managing matters from inception through resolution, including drafting and arguing a wide range of pretrial motions, conducting depositions and witness interviews, and developing case strategy. She is well-versed in analyzing large volumes of discovery, such as incident reports, medical records, and investigative materials, and translating that information into effective defenses for her clients.

Her courtroom experience is a key asset to her practice. Emani has handled numerous hearings, including arraignments, readiness conferences, and evidentiary proceedings, and has first-chaired multiple trials involving high-stakes outcomes. She has also prepared many additional cases for trial that resolved favorably through negotiated settlements. Her ability to assess risk and negotiate practical, creative resolutions allows her to efficiently advocate for clients while minimizing exposure.
